Troy was really hopping this weekend. The third annual Troy Pig Out seemed to be more popular than ever, even in the stifling heat. Kudos to Elizabeth Young for the fantastic job she did in coordinating the event. It's hard to believe that Mayor Tutunjian' idea has grown into this Fucillo HUGE food fest, which brought thousands of people into our fine city.
Powers Park was also filled to capacity on Saturday, for the Al Bruno Oldies Show. It's a beautiful thing seeing all the people coming to Troy for our festivals and concerts. I've heard people in the past actually criticise the mayor for these events. All I can say is that if the detractors can show me another way of getting thousands of people here to spend their hard earned dollars, well, I'm all ears.
Don't forget, Wednesday night at Rockin on the River will feature a performance by Blues master, Albert Cummings. Showtime is 5:30 p.m. Blue Hand Luke will headline the Powers Park Concerts on Saturday, July 24. Showtime is at 6 p.m. Admission to the show this week is 1 bottle of water, which will be donated to the fireman stationed at the Harry Dahl Firehouse at 115th & 5th Ave.
